Health Insurance Waiting Period: Why Was the Cataract Claim Rejected?

Some treatments, like cataract surgery, have a waiting period in a health policy. In this example the waiting period is two years, and the surgery happens one and a half years after the policy started, so the claim is rejected. The insurance company checks the date of the surgery, not the date of the claim. Some insurance companies let you reduce this waiting period to one year by paying extra premium, but in most cases only while buying the policy, and it may not apply to an illness you already had. Before you take a decision, ask about the waiting periods and whether they can be reduced.

ZaapIn is a technology company. We do not sell or solicit insurance. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or recommended by IRDAI, any examination body, or any insurer.

The videos explain insurance. They do not name a product, quote a price, or tell anyone what to buy. That is the advisor's work, and the whole point is to send customers to their advisor for it.
